Browns Sign Another Belichick Protégé

Wednesday, January 7, 2009 -- After firing head coach Romeo Crennel, who was formerly a coordinator for the New England Patriots under head coach Bill Belichick, the Browns have hired another former Belichick assistant—Eric Mangini. Mangini, who was let go by the New York Jets after the team's final game of soccer jerseys
the 2008- 2009 NFL season, was hired by the Browns on Wednesday.


In four years under Crennel, the Cleveland Browns always seemed to be on the cusp of Soccer jerseys
breaking through in the AFC North. The Browns were 24- 40 with Crennel as head coach. They never made the playoffs. This year many had predicted that Cleveland would either supplant the Pittsburgh Steelers as the division champs or NBA Jerseys
at least garner a wild-card spot. Instead, the team finished a dismal 4- 12, which earned them last-place in the NFC North.



In three years as head coach of the Jets, Mangini was 23- 25. Under his regime the team made the playoffs once as the wild-card club. That year they were out in the first round. This season, the Jets brought in NBA jerseys Brett Favre and had high hopes. They had a chance to get into the post-season when they met the Miami Dolphins in the final game of the season. If the Jets won, they would have earned one of Ugg Boots
the wild-card berths. Instead, the team lost to the Fins 24- 17. Under Mangini this season, they also lost to three of four non-playoff teams—Denver, San Francisco and Seattle. The club had an 8- 3 start prior to their tumble into oblivion. The season prior to Mangini’s arrival, the Jets were 4- 12. In his first year, the team went 10-6, creating an air of optimism.


Mangini signed a four-year deal with the Browns and sources say that he will be introduced by the Browns on Thursday.
