Nicks, Taylor fined for fight

Maybe Hakeem Nicks(notes) and Ike Taylor(notes) will think twice before they decide to duke it out in a preseason game again.
The New York Giants wide receiver and Pittsburgh cheap nfl jerseys Steelers cornerback were fined $10,000 each by the NFL for fighting on the fourth play of the game last Saturday, according to Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger. That made it an expensive week as players receive a weekly stipend of just more than $1,400 during preseason.
The league said both players were fined for unnecessarily striking an opponent in the head area. Nicks said he was trying to finish his block.
“The next thing I knew, he was throwing punches, so I tried to defend myself. I'm disappointed because I let my coaches and teammates down,” Nicks said, according to Garafolo. “These preseason games are important because we've got to get our work in as a offense.”
Taylor was contrite following the incident.
And as Garafolo pointed out, Nicks’ fine plus Taylor’s fine still doesn’t match the $25,000 levied against Chad Ochocinco(notes) for tweeting during the game. That is proof right there that the NFL considers a flare-up on the field as an error made in the heat of Cincinnati Bengals jersey battle. There is far less tolerance for acts that directly violate league policy off the field.
